Indonesia Fashion Week is one of the biggest fashion events in Indonesia. is back after a 2 year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This event was initiated by the Association of Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs (APPMI).

The President of the Indonesian Fashion Designers and Entrepreneurs Association (APPMI) Poppy Dharsono said the Indonesian fashion industry must be able to provide an economic impact on regional superior products in Indonesia. “The point is Indonesia must be able to create its own trends, because our market is able to provide an opportunity for superior products in the region to be transformed into fashion trends in Indonesia.”

  “Nowadays, millennials and zienials (gen-Z) have started to grow, we must be able to give a phase to millennials and gen z as well as Boomers so that everyone feels represented,” said Poppy. At the Indonesia Fashion Week 2023 event, her party is collaborating with the province of Gorontalo to develop the potential of Gorontalo‘s typical Karawo woven fabric.

The aim is to give Karawo weaving space to be known and improve the quality of textiles so that people not only know batik, but also promote Gorontalo as a tourist destination. “The point is, through Indonesia Fashion Week, Gorontalo can also promote its tourism because it is beautiful too,” she said. 
Poppy also wants each region to be able to transform its products and make these products up to date and easy to use by all groups.
