The main theme of this season was based on the true story of Yong-Zhi Yeh, so called “Rose Adolescent” who founded dead mysteriously in school toilet 16 years ago. Some people believe his cause of death was related with gender discrimination violence because he was not “masculine” enough. Until now, we still fight against gender stereotype like an army, yet we keep our tender and innocent heart to stay true to ourselves as before.

From heavy black and charcoal gray, army green which symbol brave, transition to neutral gray and sea blue , plus warm terracotta brown and last but not least are soft pale rose pink and sky blue. It’s the interpretation of designer from the occurring of “Yong-Zhi Yeh” incident to the transformation of society and future expectation.

As the materials, we choose from heavy woolen fabric, firm canvas, to warm suede, comfy cotton, delicate silk crepe and soft knit lace, combining these opposite materials to create a genderless and emotionally rich collection.

Established in 2015, SHEN YAO is a Taipei based menswear brand which provides an innovative androgyny look in delicate, elegant yet quaint style. He often borrows silhouettes and details from womenswear, because he believes body is just a vehicle, beautiful clothes should not confined by social gender role. As a fashion designer, clothes are his intermediary between the society, through his design, he wants to breaks the boundaries of how people thinking about menswear.
