Leanne Marshall is a fashion designer in Portland, Oregon.

She was the winner of season 5 of Project Runway.

Leanne Marshall and Wesley Nault were the bottoms two design contestants in Episode 2 of Project Runway, “The Grass Is Always Greener”.

In Episode 3, “Bright Lights, Big City”, Marshall was among the top three design contestants.

She maintained a good stride throughout the rest of the competition, consecutively winning two challenges: “Fashion that Drives You” and “Double 0 Fashion”. Marshall was chosen as one of the final top three design contestants and designed a wave-inspired collection for the final competition.

Her collection was judged against collections by Kenley Collins with some of Collins’ personally hand-painted fabrics, and Korto Momolu with Momolu’s hints of African inspiration.

Leanne Marshall’s feminine waves captured the judges and she became the winner of Season 5.

In a 2017 interview for LAMODACHANNEL, when asked about the inspiration underlying her fashion collection and generally her work, Leanne Mashall  stated:

“I’m a New Yorker, I’m always walking all over the city and that’s generally when I get my ideas for inspiration.

There are those green walls that every New Yorker sees everywhere because so many buildings are going up constantly, those green walls with a clear-cut diamond in the centre.

One day I thought to myself, ‘Okay, I can’t seem to get this out of my head, so I’m going to run with it…” 

Leanne Marshall is inspired by the world around her.

Nuances of nature and classic beauty caught her eye in the past, creating ethereal collections with a whimsical softness and a touch of craft. 

The usual romanticism the designer get us accustomed to is now pervaded by a new idea of modernity and stylistic pragmatism.
