This past 18 and 19 May, in Hall 8 of the Fira Montjuic in Barcelona, the city of True Denim opened its doors to all from the denim community. In its streets, people explored the denim of yesterday, today and tomorrow, through a season built on notions of movement and change. A season celebrating magnified imperfections and anomalies, with indigo as the guest star, integrating the differences seen in a changing reality – this is the story of True Denim. We let our curiosity tap into its roots, absorb its knowledge, and turn a corner onto the inspirations of tomorrow.

We have had the pleasure of interviewing François Girbaud from Marithé + François Girbaud – “Note de L’auteur” – Don’t miss it!

For this year, 3 themes illustrated the Denim Autumn Winter 1718 season across the city of True Denim. In a tailor’s shop, the Crafters spotlighted an exuberant craftsmanship that shook up the lines of creative pragmatism. In a laundrette, the Anachromix made past and future coexist in one and the same piece, using clever anachronisms and flashbacks, seeking a new harmony in diversity. And lastly, in a garage, the Weirdologists presented an Original Version of workwear denim, extracting its essence and experimenting with a sophisticated, instinctive brutality.
